Unraveling the Kinship Networks of the Lower Columbia: Mapping the Lineage of Chief Comcomly and Chief Coboway To understand how these historic families connected, I began by building a core family tree grounded in primary records. Sworn affidavits confirm that Chief Coboway and Chief Comcomly were first cousins, while historical documents note that Robert Salakie was the nephew of Chief Tostum. By mapping these verified relationships alongside unknown branches, this project explores how these prominent lineages fit together—and examines whether my own direct line includes a Clatsop ancestor.
