Unraveling the Identity of Kitty Ben: Sorting Census Errors from Maternal Lines Part Three

Unraveling the Identity of Kitty Ben: Sorting Census Errors from Maternal Lines Part Three When researching the Chetco family in coastal Oregon records, genealogical confusion frequently arises from merged names, misread relationships, and census transcription errors. One prominent area of confusion centers on whether Kitty Ben and Charlotte were a single individual named "Kitty Charlotte Ben" or two distinct women living within the same household. A side-by-side examination of primary source records—specifically the 1894 Siletz Agency Census and the 1900 U.S. Federal Census—helps untangle these names, clarify their relationships, and trace how the mix-up likely entered online trees. Image Analysis: 1894 Siletz Census Record vs. 1900 U.S. Census Comparing the 1894 schedule with the 1900 census reveals a clear timeline showing that Kitty Ben and Charlotte were distinct individuals rather than one woman recorded under a compound name. 1894 Siletz Census Record: Shows Kit...

Community of Encouragement

I could not fall asleep last night.  I had a rough pain day. On top of the regular pain my emotions were surface level.  The every day dealings had caught up to me.

It was 2:30 am. The Lord started downloading ideas. Creativity was flowing. The idea of a Facebook page to coincide and compliment the blog came down to me.

"Community of Encouragement"

Pure Joy! For over two years the idea of having a place of encouragement has been rolling around in my mind and heart. I have been seeking a place to offer and find encouragement.

I was so excited about the idea that I didn`t waste any time. The Facebook page was created in the moment wide awake laying in my bed. I was shocked and relieved that the name was available. The creativity continued to flow. I sent myself text messages of all the ideas that were flowing my way. My heart is so full of all the possibilities.

This reminded of a life lesson about not giving up.  The little illustration of one fellow man turning around in defeat and calling it quits, walking away bowed over. The other man moving forward, plugging away, persevering, not listening to the negative thoughts, taking one swing at a time, one day at a time, one prayer at a time.

We may be so close to our break through!

I was so tired, like the miner I wanted to be done! Done with pain, done with being tired and frustrated...

What are your diamonds? It may be be a much needed job, a promotion, relief from pain, some inspiration, a change in a relationship, a raise at work, a healing or an answer to prayer.

Keep moving forward! Keep praying! Keep believing for a breakthrough! Keep holding on to the encouragement before you!

I look forward to collaborating with others who also have the desire to spread encouragement! If you enjoy blogging, writing, creativity and the desire to encourage others get in contact with me. I would love to work together to spread faith, hope and love in our community.
