Who You Are

Who are you? Do you really know who you are? Have you searched for the meaning of life? Have you had the thoughts, "Who am I and why am I here?" 

It doesn't matter what others think about you or what the worlds says about you. It only matters what you think and know about yourself and knowing who you are to God. 

What God says and thinks about you:

You are Beautiful

Psalm 45:11

Let the king be enthralled by your beauty;
    honor him, for he is your lord.

The Lord sees your beauty in a way no one else can. He does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance but the LORD looks at the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7) He sees your inner beauty. He sees your heart, your thoughts, your desires, your motives like no one else can. He sees the way he made you. Did you know you were created in His image? (Genesis 1:26) You are beautiful!

You are Unique

Psalm 139:13

For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.

There is no one else like you. Out of all the people born on the planet you are a one of a kind. You have a unique personality, genetic makeup, gifts and talents.  God has instilled these in you. Your upbringing, family, friends, community all played a part in shaping who you are today. The work God has done in your heart, mind and soul is distinct from anyone else. You are Unique!

You are loved.

Jeremiah 31:3

The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying:

“I have loved you with an everlasting love;

    I have drawn you with unfailing kindness."

God is love. God loves you. God has a love for you that is bigger than the water in the oceans. We cannot be separated from God's Love. One of my favorite sayings is "If you were the only person on the earth, Jesus still would have went to the cross to die for you." Whatever situation you find yourself in. Single, dating, in a relationship, not in a relationship, married, divorced, widowed, remember your are loved by God and nothing can take that away.  You are Loved!

You are Special.

Ephesians 2:10

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

God has a purpose for your life. God has a plan for your life. God has put gifts into your being. God has put talents into your life. You are special to Him.  You are exceptionally precious in the eyes of God. The Lord is always with you and takes great delight in you (Zephaniah 3:17). You are Special!

You Are Created with a Purpose.

Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

God has a plan for you life. In God we can prosper (it may not look like the ways of the world) and we can find protection in Him. In Him we can find hope. Hope that no one can take away from us. In Him we have a future here on earth and in Heaven.  There is a reason you are here and alive in this moment. You are Created with a Purpose!

You are Cared For. 

Ephesians 3:17-19

 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,  and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

God cares deeply for you. God wants to dwell deeply in your heart. He wants you to be rooted and established in His love. He wants you to grasp how wide and how high and how deep is His love for you. His love surpasses our knowledge and human understanding. He wants you to be filled fully with His love. Think about how big the Ocean waters are, our minds can't comprehend how much water covers the face of the planet. This is how much God loves You. You are cared for!

You are Lovely.

Daniel 12:3

 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.

Your loveliness is not dependant on outside factors. Not you appearance. Not your actions, Not your clothes or what you do for a living. Not where you live or the family you belong to, Not the car you drive or how much money is in your bank account. You are lovely in the eyes of the Lord. The lord delights in you soley for who he created you to be. You are lovely!

You are Precious.

1 Corinthians 6:20

 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

You are precious in His eyes and He loves you (Isaiah 43:4 ESV). You are precious to God because he created you. You are an original, there is no one else like you. You are precious to God because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). God loves you so much and you are so precious in His eyes that God gave his only Son to die on the cross for you.  You are precious!

You are Strong.

Psalm 18:35

You make your saving help my shield,

    and your right hand sustains me;
    your help has made me great.

In the world's terms you may feel weak and timid but In God you can find strength. God can be your shield. He can sustain you. God's help can make you great. His strength can be your strength. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13). You are strong!

You are Important.

1 Peter 2:9

 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

In God's eyes you are important. You are His child. The apple of His eye (Psalm 17:8) He cares for your every day needs. God has a record of everyone who has ever lived and this includes you. He knows you by name.  He even knows the number of hairs on your head (Matthew 10:29-31). You are important!

You are Forgiven.

Psalm 103:12

as far as the east is from the west,
    so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

Your sins, your guilt has been removed as far as the east is from the west. This means they are forever gone. Not to be used against you. Not to be brought to your attention. Ask for forgiveness and they are gone. Forever! You are forgiven!

You are a New Creation

2 Corinthians 5:17

 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:The old has gone, the new is here!

Like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly we too are like a new creation when we come to the Lord. We have a new beginning. The past way of life is no more. The new has come. You can always have a fresh start. His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23) You are a new creation! 

You are Protected.

Psalm 121:3

He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;

The Lord watches over you. He has you in the palm of His hand (Isaiah 49:16) God is not a God who sleeps (Psalm 121:3) He is always there. He is always watching over you (Psalm 121:5) You are protected!

You are Empowered.

Philippians 4:13

 I can do all this through him who gives me strength. 

In Him you can find empowerment. You can find strength to walk through things you thought you could never face on your own. God can make you stronger. He can make you more confident. In Him you have the power to accomplish your God given destiny. The plans He has for your life can be acomplished by the strength He gives you. You are empowered!

You are Chosen.

John 15:16

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.

God chose you (John 15:16). You are His. He has drawn you to Him (John 6:44). God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purposes (Romans 8:28). You are chosen. 

You are Family

Ephesians 2:19

 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household,

"The invitation to be part of God's family is for everyone through faith in Jesus. We are a part of something bigger than ourselves. We are a part of God's family.  We are God's children.      You are family!
